Reliable is a word I would use to describe spicy garden. It's tasty and you can count on the food being what it should be. Things I would highly recommend: coconut curry soup. Unreal, smooth, creamy broth with noodles, veg and a protein of your choice. Their spring rolls are awesome as well! Usually have to order the soup, so haven't tried much else!

Came here as I was craving vermicelli w bbq. Being from San Jose, California -eating at a Vietnamese spot was pretty much a weekly game. And we've been spoiled to have about the best ones in San Jose.
Ordered iced Vietnamese coffee and was pretty impressed that they served it using old school Vietnamese drip. (Ya know the stainless steel over the cup pour and strain type).. HOWEVER, taste was BLAH. If you know Vietnamese coffee, you know that it's the stronggeeeeest there is. Like heart palpitating strong. So this.. this was weak to my taste.
Food:
Crispy Spring Rolls: good. Actually the favorite thing we got from the menu.
Beef Pho w Steak and Meatballs: taste of broth was decent however REAL Vietnamese pho would be served with prime raw thinly sliced steak that you swish around in the broth to cook. It also should come with bean sprouts, lime, and fresh jalapeno and sprinkled with hella cilantro. This was... sadly not Legit.
Vermicelli w Bbq Pork and Egg rolls: again, the egg rolls was bomb as aforementioned. But.... didn't know their version or term as bbq pork is actually cured pork. Taste was bland. And wasn't served with enough lettuce and veggies and again,
Cilantro.
Grilled Pork w Sunny side up Egg over Rice.
Egg cooked excellent. But the pork was lacking in flavor and seemed hard. It looked like it was pre-cooked before being set on the grill. Not legit.
I'm not sure if i'd be back. It's something you'd expect from any other fusion restaurants. I don't think a restaurant can be as authentic if they dip their toes in too many cuisines. Vietnamese, Thai, Chinese are way tooooooooo broad and extensive to perfect.
Also as mentioned in Ali Wong's comedy stand-up. You know a Vietnamese place is authentic if it ends with a number and has quick and rude Asian people working in em. Haha! -

Had vermicelli spring roll bowls for lunch as a take out. Black bean sauce charbroiled beef was excellent. Other order was lemongrass charbroiled beef which was fresh and light. Delicious. Would recommend and would order again.
